Siegel Athletic Hall of Fame Class 2024


The Siegel High School Hall of Fame was created to honor:


• Those individuals who have excelled as athletes while students at Siegel High.

• Those individuals who have excelled as coaches while at Siegel High.

• Those individuals or staff members who have been ardent supporters of the Siegel High School athletic program.

• Those very special teams that have performed extraordinarily well, bringing pride to the school and the community.

Siegel High School is proud to announce our Siegel Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2024. The Hall of Fame banquet and ceremony will be held on Wednesday, September 18 at 6:00 PM in the main gym. This event is open to the public, and tickets can be purchased by clicking here. Come celebrate these incredible athletes and their induction into the Siegel Athletic Hall of Fame.

This year's inductees include:


Oscar Butler - Basketball

Oscar Butler is a 2011 graduate of Siegel. Oscar had a stellar basketball career while playing for the Stars. He was named Team Captain and earned All-District, All-Region Tournament, and All-State Tournament honors. He helped the Stars reach the TSSAA State Tournament in 2010 where they suffered a 77-57 loss to Melrose in the Quarterfinals. The Stars reached the TSSAA State tournament again during Butler’s senior year, advancing to the Final Four before being eliminated by Bearden.

Butler continued his education and playing career at Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee. Oscar was a 4-year starter for the Scots. He earned the honor of being named Team Captain for three years. Butler scored over 1000 points, is 3rd all-time in rebounding, and 3rd all-time in blocks at Maryville College.

When asked to share his favorite memories while attending Siegel, Oscar said: “I really enjoyed the basketball team trips and winning a championship in the Bahamas.”

Oscar and his wife Sarah were married in 2021.


Chad Davis – Football

Chad Davis is a 2006 graduate of Siegel. He played both football and basketball during his time as a Star. Davis was named Team Captain three times, earned a Wendy's National High School Heisman nomination in 2005, was a National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete award winner, and was named a US Army Reserve Scholar Athlete award winner. He earned First Team All-County honors in 2005 and First Team All-Area in 2004 and 2005. Davis was honored by his team as a 3-time Academic Award Winner, 2-time Lineman of the Year, Coaches Award Winner in 2004, and earned the coveted Stars Award in 2005. He was responsible for the very first 1st down in school history.

After graduating from Siegel, Davis attended the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga to play football but was forced to medically retire in his first camp. He obtained his Associate’s Degree in Fire Science and his Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Administration, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Columbia Southern University.

Davis enrolled in the Fire Academy and graduated in May of 2010 as class Valedictorian. He began working for Smyrna Fire Department, then was hired at Murfreesboro Fire Rescue in 2012 as a Firefighter. He was promoted to Engineer in 2016 and then to Captain in 2018. He currently is the Captain of Engine 3, the busiest truck in the city. During his time at the fire department, Davis has earned multiple lifesaving awards, meritorious awards, and recognitions for firefighter of the month. He has served as the commander of the department's Honor Guard for 6 years.

Davis married his high school sweetheart, Bekah, in June of 2010 and became a father in 2016 with the birth of Carson and again in 2019 with Cooper.

When asked to share his favorite memories while at Siegel, Chad said: “Being part of the very first students to walk the halls at Siegel, the first-ever football and basketball teams, and the first football win in school history.”


Danielle Jedlicki – Bowling

Danielle Jedlicki is a 2019 graduate of Siegel. During her time at Siegel High School, she had an impressive bowling career highlighted by winning the TSSAA Bowling State Championship in 2017. She was the state runner-up in 2016 and 2018. Jedlicki was named Tennessean Female Bowler of the Year in 2016, 2017, and 2019. She was also named the Daily News Journal Female Bowler of the Year in 2016 to 2018. Danielle was a U15 Junior Gold Champion in 2015 and a member of the USA Developmental Team in 2016.

Danielle was also active in her school community, serving on the student council. Her achievements at Siegel High School set a strong foundation for her collegiate bowling career at Louisiana Tech.

Jedlicki attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Health Promotions and her Master’s degree in Business. Danielle was a standout bowler for the Lady Bulldogs while attending Louisiana Tech.

    • • Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll (2020-2024)
    • • Southland Bowling League’s Academic Honor Roll (2020-2023)

    Notable Accomplishments:

    • • Helped Louisiana Tech achieve their highest program ranking at fourth and their fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
    • • Qualified for the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championship for three consecutive years.
    • • Bowled the first-ever perfect game in school history at the SWIBC in Dallas, Texas.

    When asked to share her favorite memories while attending Siegel, Danielle said: “Friday night football games and hanging out with my friends every day without a care in the world.”

    Jedlicki is starting a new job at CED as a sales trainee in Ruston, Louisiana.


    Sam Sloan – Swimming

    Sam Sloan is a 2011 graduate of Siegel. While at Siegel, Sam excelled in the pool and in the classroom. He was a four-time Academic All-American and a state finalist all four years. He set multiple school records, including in the 50 Freestyle (22.5), 100 Freestyle (50.86), 100 Backstroke (51.2), 100 Butterfly (51.9), 200 Individual Medley (1:53.54), and 500 Freestyle (4:51.20). He was a Junior and Senior National qualifier in the 200 Backstroke, 200 Butterfly, 200 Individual Medley, and 400 Individual Medley.

    Sam earned an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. While at the Air Force Academy, Sam was a finalist in the Mountain West Athletic Conference in the 200 Butterfly and 400 Individual Medley. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English.

    After completing his time at the Air Force Academy, Sam was selected for pilot training, earning his wings in 2017. Sam is currently stationed in Germany flying C-130s and has been deployed in multiple theaters, receiving many distinguished honors. He currently holds the rank of Major.

    When asked to share his favorite memories while attending Siegel, Sam said: “I spent a lot of time in the pool! I value the friendships I made at school and with other swimmers in the area. High school is a special time.”


    Eric Shelton – Coach

    Coach Eric Shelton began Siegel’s boys and girls soccer programs in 2003. He coached both teams for the first eight years before resigning as the boys' coach to focus on the girls' team.

    Shelton quickly developed one of the state’s top girls' soccer programs at Siegel. The Lady Stars reached the TSSAA’s Class AAA state tournament eight times under Shelton’s watch. He led Siegel to Rutherford County’s lone girls soccer state championship in 2008. The Lady Stars were Class AAA runner-up in 2012. Shelton had a record of 181-74-29 at Siegel, including a 19-4-1 season during the Lady Stars' championship season. Siegel was the District 7-AAA regular-season champion six times during Shelton’s tenure. The Lady Stars won seven 7-AAA tournament titles and eight Region 4-AAA championships.

    The Siegel girls program was ranked nationally in the ESPN Fab 50 in 2008 and ranked sixth in the Southeast region by the NSCAA in 2008. Shelton was named NSCAA AAA Coach of the Year. He had 19 players receive All-State status during his time at Siegel.

    Eric and his wife Jaime have two children, Layla (13) and Cade (11). He is currently coaching and teaching at Nolensville High School.

    When asked to share his favorite memories while at Siegel, Eric said: “The relationships built between players, parents, and faculty. It's always the people.”


    Jim Burns – Contributor

    Jim Burns has been the “Voice of the Stars” as the Public Address Announcer for Siegel Basketball since the school opened in 2003. Jim recently retired after 47 years with the Kroger Company, where he was the Grocery Merchandiser for the Nashville Division, overseeing the dry grocery operation for 91 Kroger stores.

    Burns was also an assistant softball coach for 2 years, helping the Lady Stars Softball program reach the final four of the TSSAA State Tournament in 2009.

    When asked about his fondest memories, Jim said: “Being able to sit courtside and in the dugout to watch my two amazing daughters, Jessica and Amy, play basketball and softball. I will never forget the memories made with my family. I was so proud to watch them perform on the court and field at a high level as well as off the court and field being dedicated leaders in the school and in society. Also, being able to sit courtside for every home basketball game at Siegel High and to watch all the amazing student-athletes perform at a high level has been a joy.”

    Jim and his wife Renee have two daughters, Jessica Snell (36) and Amy Pollifrone (32), both former athletes and graduates of Siegel High School.
